Surviving An Earthquake Part I

1989 was the last major earthquake that northern California has seen in 22 years! Many people might not remember when it happened…but I do! I live in Santa Cruz which was only 9 miles from the epicenter. My town was destroyed as a result of that earthquake. Buildings were lying in the street and almost the entire downtown area was in ruins…

What to do after an earthquake:

1) Locate your gas line and TURN IT OFF! Broken gas pipes cause huge fires during earthquake aftermaths. Tell your neighbors to do the same thing or else your house could blow up along with theirs.

2) Stay outside until the after shocks subside.

3) Don’t panic. It is the worst time for that. Stay calm and assist others as much as possible.

To be continued…
