Sorry to make you wait for Part II of Surviving an Earthquake. I normally wait more than three days between posts, but I starting feeling guilty that I might leave you hanging if there was an earthquake before I had a chance to finish that thought.
- Do not drive unless it is an emergency. The roads need to be clear for emergency vehicles and PG&E.
- If your landline phone is working, refrain from using it. The lines need to be clear for 911 to field calls and dispatch help to those in need.
- Stay alert and watch out for looters. Depending on where you are when the earthquake hits, you might need to find a safe place away from commercial shopping centers.
- If you close to the ocean, MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND! If the epicenter of the earthquake was offshore, you may be in for a tsunami.
