Surviving an Attack

This post was inspired by a dear friend of mine that was attacked by a man while walking to work in broad daylight earlier this week.  At 5’2″ she is a petite woman that may have appeared to be an easy target. But she is actually a black belt in karate and she not only fought him off, she was able to pin him down until people working in the office building above came down to assist her.

Her attacker is now in jail awaiting trial.

Hopefully you will never experience an attack in your lifetime. And most of us don’t have the time or skill set to earn a black belt in karate. But self-defense classes are a great place to start. Many schools, parks and recreation departments and community outreach programs offer free or low-cost classes.  A simple google search will guild you to classes available in your area. Here is  a link with some valuable advice for selecting a class http://hiwaay.net/~garson/selfdef2.htm
